I would like to announce Magda Biernat‘s upcoming exhibit at Clic Gallery in New York. The exhibit will run February 7 through March 6, 2011. Magda is an architectural photographer whose work explores the interactions between people and the built environment they inhabit.

Her latest work is called “Betel Nut Beauties.” In this particular photoseries, she focuses on the young women who spend their days in the glass fronts of roadside stands in Taiwan. These garish structures, usually on the side of an isolated road, dot the landscape in Taiwan, and Magda’s pristine, carefully composed studies capture both the unusual Taiwanese design vernacular and the panopticon-like experience of the women who spend every day inside of a neon plastic box, quite literally on display for passersby and customers.
