Best Casino Interior Design Award
Macau is your new address for Las Vegas in Asia. Glamorous new hotels and casinos are opening one after another which is a great opportunity for us who are in the hospitality design business. Remedios Siembieda, where I have been working more than 7 years, designing quite a few projects in the new “Macau – Strip” as well as the “Vegas – Strip” Over the years, I did my share of gambling to make sure they keep building more hotels, so I have a job security. That’s the only reason I gamble, seriously!
One of those projects is the Crown Macau that has won the “Best Casino Interior Design Award” in the 1st “International Gaming Awards 2008″ recently held in London, UK. The award recognizes outstanding design in the casino sector. The winner was judged on originality, innovative style, quality of materials and customer friendly environment. I congratulate the team who worked on it…

As one of the tallest buildings on Taipa Island, the Crown Macau is uniquely positioned to offer panoramic views of the Macau peninsula from its spectacular Sky Lobby on Level 38, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows featured in every guest room and suite, and approximately 183,000 square feet of gaming space with approximately 220 gaming tables and more than 500 gaming machines.

The construction started on December 2004, and a grand opening event held on the May 12, 2007. The overall project cost was approximately $590 million that included the value of land for the project, land premium costs, anticipated construction costs, furniture, fixtures and equipment expense, pre-opening expenses, capitalized fees and finance costs, cage cash and initial working capital requirements.
