Discussion with Pros

Discussion with Pros

Between Euro 2008 and NBA finals, I finally had a chance last night to watch Charlie Rose’s discussion with Pritzker Prize winner architects Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid and Renzo Piano. It was a good one hour conversation about what architecture mean to these famous architects.

Glass Staircase (phobia)

Glass Staircase (phobia)

This interesting article “Architects in Glass Houses” is published in the New York Times. Imagine having a two-story glass staircase in your house, and one of the guests, whom you are proudly showing off your house, is too afraid to walk on the glass staircase!

New Santa Monica Place

New Santa Monica Place

Last 10 years Santa Monica Place has been my starting point when I go to Santa Monica which is at least once a month! I didn’t really care for the mall itself which is designed by Frank Gehry. The parking is attractive for me which is conveniently located adjacent to the Third Street Promenade.

The New York Times Building

The New York Times Building

New York always deserves (and gets) the best of all, and here is another one! The new 52-story building between 40th and 41st Streets, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, is a new icon in New York. Piano says his goal was to create a skyscraper that embodies sustainability and craftsmanship. You can watch [...]

Politician Inspired Bar

Politician Inspired Bar

The concept of this club and bar, designed by Gunter Fleitz & Peter Ippolito, centres on the person of Theodor Heuss. The club is thus a tribute to Theodor Heuss, the first President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and its name “T-O12″ also hints to the address of the club at “Theodor-Heuss-Straße”. Located at [...]

Blue Condo, NYC

Architect Bernard Tschumi’s Blue condominium tower located on the Lower East Side, New York. Designed with an original envelope pattern sets the structure apart from surrounding buildings, thus adding a bit of an eclectic attitude to a normally dreary skyline. I guess it looks better in the architect’s rendering
