Tabanlioglu Architects design Istanbul’s sparkling Tower
Istanbul is a city of youthful dynamism with its eye on the high-tech future and the profits and innovations. The 261 meter tower will be one of the highest structures in the central business district of Istanbul. Rising upward, the building gets slightly thinner. At the fourth level, it slightly broadens downwards and the glass covering the surface of the building earns a curve and then extends horizontally at the skirt of the building, which covers the restaurants, cinemas and stores designed especially for high-quality brand shopping. The façade consists of two independent shells. Four more levels of shopping zones have been planned on the ground floor and four separate housing zones are planned above the retail zone. Common areas between the sections house indoor gardens, social areas, maintenance and support. At every ninth floor interval recreation areas, such as a mini golf course at 187 meters, swimming pool at 60 meters, are programmed.
Environmental friendly systems grant low energy consumption. Owing to the metro connection and the six underground car-park levels, the transportation and the parking problems are solved. The client is Biskon Construction and the site area consists of 11,500 m² and the construction area consists of 158,000m².
