Since 2004, wienerberger has been launching the Brick Award, an internationally renowned architecture prize that honors innovative, inspiring, and outstanding brick architecture. The Brick Award is an initiative of wienerberger, a leading international provider of innovative, ecological solutions for the entire building envelope, in the fields of new build and renovation, as well as infrastructure in water and energy management. wienerberger’s mission is to promote innovative, sustainable, and affordable brick architecture that benefits society and the environment.

The Brick Award is presented in five categories, including “Feeling at home”, “Sharing public spaces”, “Living together”, “Working together”, and “Building outside the box”. The majority of submissions fall under the category “Feeling at home” (28%), followed by “Sharing public spaces” (26%), “Living together” (25%), and “Working together” (12%). The special category “Building outside the box” accounts for 9% of all 849 projects.

1. 50 outstanding projects will be nominated for the award
2. Selection made by a jury of internationally renowned architects, architectural critics, and journalists
3. Evaluation criteria include innovative design, architectural concept, sustainability, energy efficiency, and the creative use of brick as a building material
